Hint: Easy code entry: After beating the checklist at the beginning of the game, save the game to make starting new games easier. Also save the game at the very end, before the ending sequence starts. Then, load that game, advance past the FMV sequences, and the codes will already be enabled. Information in this section was contributed by Python.
Hint: Easy getaway: While the police is chasing your car from behind, slam the brakes, wait for him to run into your car, then slam the car in reverse. If done correctly, the policeman will say that he lost you. Hit the gas to complete an easy getaway. Information in this section was contributed by Chad Laurent.
Another getaway technique that does not expend as much energy as ramming is to use the surrounding traffic. Gently tap the cars toward the direction that your car is travelling. The cops will follow and most often ram the traffic car instead of your car. Information in this section was contributed by DaStranj1.
The police AI is relatively dumb. Try "hiding" behind a light pole and watch the cops wrap themselves around it. Also, find a wall and try and get it between your car and the police. If you have the skills, turning into an alleyway quickly can also shake off a pursuit. Weaving through traffic generally does not work unless you skin the other cars. For some reason, the police tend to run into stopped cars a lot more frequently. Also, the police barricade cars will remain still if they are not touched. If you can pass through the middle, any police cars that are following will usually hit the barricade, causing one large pile-up. Information in this section was contributed by Raven31.
When pursued by the police, take your vehicle up onto a footpath and stay on it for approximately five to ten seconds. The police will turn around to go in another direction and say they have lost you. This will even work when the police are right on your tail. Information in this section was contributed by Aslan.
In San Francisco, enable the "Invincible" code, then locate the ramps. After the police are on your tail, get to top speed, ramp, and turn sharply. If done correctly, the police will fly over your car at the speed and direction that you were travelling. Information in this section was contributed by Razorbck34.
Begin game play in Miami in survival mode. As the level begins, veer off to the left and drive between the light pole and building. If you look behind your car, two police cars should collide into each other, giving you an extra chance to get more distance from them. Information in this section was contributed by Jon Dickerman.
When you are wanted and you see a cop in front of you, drive up behind him. He will see you in his rear-view mirror and turn around to try to get you. If timed correctly, you can try to get the cop to crash into a tree or obstacle to get a great opportunity to get away. Information in this section was contributed by Gabriel Lundmark.
When being chased by the cops and there is a car in the right lane, pull off on the right side of the car on to the sidewalk or the shoulder. The cop should follow you and smash into a street light or hit the car, allowing you to escape. Information in this section was contributed by Derek Godwin.
If you are being chased by the cops, try not to go on to grassy areas because your steering and acceleration are much worse. This makes it a lot harder to escape, especially if chased by more than one cop. Information in this section was contributed by Derek Godwin.
There is a certain way to bump into other cars to slow down the cops. If you are on the left side of the car, lightly tap the left tail light of the car. If on the right, lightly tap the right tail light. If done correctly, the car will spin sideways, making it easier for you to escape the cops. Information in this section was contributed by Derek Godwin.
When being chased by the cops and you want to make a turn, do not turn at the intersection. Instead, drive a little past it on the wrong side of the road. Then, turn towards the curb separating the roads and do a 180 spin and get on the other side of the road. The cops should drive right past you. You can now make your turn and gain a larger head start to escape. Information in this section was contributed by Derek Godwin.
When being chased by the cops and a hill-ramp type of objects appears, drive right up to it until you reach the top. Slowly go down it. The cop will chase you and go flying over you, causing major damage or even flipping his car. If the cop is still alive, back up and do the same thing in reverse. Repeat these step until the police unit is destroyed. Information in this section was contributed by Derek Godwin.
While playing in Miami in survival mode, turn left immediately when you start. Turn until you see a building and a pole. Drive directly between the building and the pole. If done correctly, two cops should slam into each other, allowing you to have an easy getaway. Information in this section was contributed by Walter Crooker.
Hint: Losing the tail on "Getaway": Choose San Francisco and travel straight until you get to the end of the street, then make a left. There should be tracks in the middle of the street. Go on the right hand side of the tracks and stop your car when the streetcar appears. The streetcar should hit your car and push it along the street. The police will keep crashing into the streetcar until their car wrecks. if the streetcar bumps you out of the way, chase it and try to get in front of it. Note: In order for this to work, you must travel at top speed until you get to the tracks. Information in this section was contributed by Justin.
Hint: Avoiding roadblocks: When being chased by the police, and they have formed a roadblock, you do not have to smash through it. Drive up on to the sidewalk, avoiding any street lights or solid objects. After you have done this, pull back in to the center lane. If done correctly, the police will keep chasing you until they all smash into the roadblock, causing a large traffic jam. Keep in mind that once a police car in the roadblock is hit, it will begin to chase you. However, you will have a large head start, and almost any other car on the road will get smashed from the police cars that were chasing you. Note: This only works about three times during a chase. Information in this section was contributed by Derek Godwin.
Hint: Smart braking: One bothersome feature about the game are the brakes, Once you hit the brakes and come to a complete stop, you go in reverse and do not stop fast enough. This is bad if there is a cop chasing you, or if you need to make a quick stop in an intersection. To brake effectively, without going into reverse, hold Square + Triangle. Your car will come to a quick stop, and the reverse light will only come on briefly. Information in this section was contributed by Josh Coley.
Hint: Turn sharper: Press L1 when turning a corner to turn the wheels sharper. Also try it while looking from the side of the car. Information in this section was contributed by 59 Times The Pain.
Hint: Flip your car: To make your car do a flip, find a cop car on its side. Get some distance and ram into the bottom part of the car. If done correctly, your car will flip very high in the air. Information in this section was contributed by tericantu.

Hint: Avoiding flips when on stilts: When the "Stilts" code is enabled, be careful when turning. One quick or sharp turn can flip your car on its side, making it impossible to continue on a mission. Take a nice, slow, steady turns to avoid this. Information in this section was contributed by tomsmi.
Hint: Easy 360: To do an easy 360 press, hold Circle then while your car tires are still smoking. Hold Left or Right to avoid a police barricade. Try to swerve around them, then head quickly to the other side. If done correctly, the police cars should wreck themselves and stop following you. Information in this section was contributed by WBarrett00.
Hint: Driving conditions: Driving conditions on the grass are the same conditions as when it is raining. Information in this section was contributed by Derek Godwin.
Hint: Statue Of Liberty: Drive along the Hudson River in New York. Make sure river is on the right side of your car. When you get to the end, where it becomes a corner, press R2 to look to the right over the water to see the Statue Of Liberty. Information in this section was contributed by tomsmi.
Hint: Alcatraz island: Go to the north-eastern most part of San Francisco, along the bay. Look on the map to the north in the bay for Alcatraz island. Information in this section was contributed by Chris26308.
Hint: Completing the parking garage level: First, burnout and hold X when your tires stop smoking. Just before you hit the wall, use the handbrake and regular brakes simultaneously. This takes care of burnout, speed test, handbrake, and brake test. Do a reverse 180 from there, and then a regular 180. Now do a 360. You should be facing the pillars. Weave in and out of them to do a slalom. Now, just do a lap around the parking garage without hitting anything, and you are done. Information in this section was contributed by Derek Godwin.
Hint: Better handling: After starting the game, ram the back of your car into a building, or better yet, other vehicles. Make sure only the back of the car is damaged. Do this until the back is very smashed up. If the damage bar turns any other color but green, then it was not done correctly. Doing this will increase handling greatly. Its very useful for getting out of tough situations, getting away from the law, or making a last minute turn. Information in this section was contributed by Tomcat_176.
Another way to improve the handling is to enter the game options and turn off "Auto Handbrake" ever time the game is played. That option always turns back on after the game is quit. Turning off the option makes the car actually handles like a real car. Information in this section was contributed by Road Rash.
Hint: Easy times in San Francisco survival mode: This trick is difficult, but well worth the effort. After starting, go straight to reach two roads, to the left and right. Follow the road to the right, but stop when reaching the middle of the first hill. If done correctly, the police will ramp off the hill and over your car. Go to the top of the hill, a little from the edge and once again, stop. If done correctly, the police will once again ramp off the hill and land somewhere behind your car. Keep repeating this and eventually the police will all land on their sides or tops. If you keep all the fallen police cars within a certain range, then no more units will appear. You can just wait there as long as desired and score impossible times. Information in this section was contributed by KevMan1815.
Hint: Improved times in survival mode: Use anything possible as a barricade. The police AI is "dumb" and will hit anything or do almost anything to get to your car. You can hide behind other cars and lamp posts. Objects such as pay phones and parking meters do not work since cars can drive through them. Try swerving in and out of traffic and stop near or in front of cars and lamp posts. Driving close to traffic or on the "sidewalks" can also be effective if done correctly. Try not to use the "Burn Out" button because it can spin your car out of control after a hit by police cars, making it an easy target to be hit and "wrecked". Information in this section was contributed by MTXKICKA.
Hint: Crazy demos: Enable either the "Stilts" or "Rear Wheel Steering" codes, Select one of the training modes to see a crazy demo. Information in this section was contributed by Chris26308.
Hint: Police in replay: Enable the "No police" code and drive around. Select the replay option after crashing or exiting to see what would have happened if the police were active. Information in this section was contributed by Evan Romine.
Hint: Get destroyed in replay while invincible: Enable the "Invincibility" code, then play a mission or take a drive. Intentionally get a lot of damage while playing, then at the end of your mission or drive, go to "Film Director". The replay will show your car being destroyed at the point it normally would have, as if the invincibility code were not active. Information in this section was contributed by Brian Jackson.
Hint: Driving on the sidewalks: You can drive on the sidewalks regardless of what the manual states. Just drive slowly and do not hit any signs, cars, or other objects. Information in this section was contributed by Gabriel Lundmark.
Hint: Driving over benches and small pillars: Enable the "Stilts" code to drive over the benches and parking pillars. The police will just hit them. Information in this section was contributed by Chris26308.
Hint: Drive into Madison Square Garden: Find the ticket office and drive on either side of it. This will take you into the building -- you can drive around the inside of it. To get out, find one of the two entrances and drive out. Information in this section was contributed by tomo'd.
Glitch: Leave the screen: Go to the warehouses in San Francisco and find the sidewalk that leads a black screen. The police will not chase you. Information in this section was contributed by Sid46968.
Enable the "Stilts" code and begin game play in San Francisco. Go to the car park and drive full speed over the ramp to leave the game area. Information in this section was contributed by kyle lennan.
In Miami, do not turn and keep going straight until reaching the next town. Go three streets, then take a left. Go over the bridge and get a cop to follow you. Go back over the bridge and keep driving in until you have turn left or right. At the last moment, take a left and slide into the wall with your car being sideways. Allow the cop to hit you on your side and you will go out of the screen. Note: This might take a few attempts. Information in this section was contributed by Jimmy Tumbleston.
Glitch: Get knocked on roof: When in New York on the last mission, where you have to rescue the President, drive until you find a secret agent. Do a 360 turn and the agent should hit you right in the front of your car and flip it on the roof. If that does not work, just let the secret agents gang up on you and they will hit you on the roof. Information in this section was contributed by Scooby9694.
Glitch: Float on water: Go to Miami and allow the cops to chase you. Go to an edge, let the cop hit you into the water, and you will not sink. Note: This takes practice. Information in this section was contributed by Biker7462.
Get the cops to chase you, go up against a wall, just as if you are parking. Have an angry cop smash your car. Sometimes you will go beyond the barrier and be able to drive below the bridge and over water. This is best done in survival mode. Note: Sometimes your car will just go airborne and "fly away". Information in this section was contributed by VegetaJabroni.
Glitch: Drive through walls: If a cop hits just right in Miami, you will go through the wall. Note: This does not work with all walls. Information in this section was contributed by Sid46968.
In San Francisco, find a building that pops out from the building next to it. This, of course, creates a corner. At full speed, still on the street with the building ahead, steer toward it. Ram the corner where the two buildings meet. You have got to hit it exactly to pass through the walls and drive out of bounds in the red area of the map. Information in this section was contributed by Schupp.
Go past the Golden Gate bridge in the San Francisco level with the "No Police" and "Invincibility" codes enabled. When you get past the bridge, the mini-map will show what looks like a loop. You have to turn onto the first left. You should now be going down a hill. At the bottom, you have to make a car crash so it is not running anymore. Move the car into the corner at the bottom of the hill. Start backing up the hill, but do not go too far or the car will disappear. After you hit the car it will go flying through the wall. Information in this section was contributed by matt delony.
In Los Angeles, drive to LAX. Make sure that your felony is full and damage is off. Once at LAX, drive to the wall that separates the two runways. Park directly parallel and touching it. A cop should hit you hard from the side and knock you through the wall. This is the easiest place in the game to get knocked outside of a city. Be careful, as it is very easy to flip once outside of the city limits, especially along side the freeway. Information in this section was contributed by TheManAustin.
In Los Angeles, take the long freeway past LAX until you reach the end corner, next to the Ocean. Take the turn and there will be the freeway continuing along the ocean and another road parallel to it on your right. Take the road on the right that runs along the cliff. Drive down the road and look for a grassy area with a restaurant type building in it. This in between two buildings. Go behind the restaurant and drive straight. You will go through the wall and into the city "Block". Information in this section was contributed by Chris26308.
There are a few locations that allow you to travel through objects. One is in the part that you start in take a ride mode. To get there, turn right at the first stop light, then turn left when you get to the next stop light. Go straight for a few seconds. When you get to the second to the last block, about half way down is a place that is narrow, and in between two walls that stick out further than it does. There are also people sitting at the tables to the right of this location. You should be able to just drive right through it. Another location like this is at the Marina, where the trees are located. The first part of the trees that starts to stick out to the right is the place. With this location, you must have the police ram you through. When you are driving on the water, there may be some spots that are higher than others which can flip your car over. Information in this section was contributed by Bonz11549.
Start game play in Miami in take a ride mode and go straight down the road on which the game begins. Drive along the highway to the next town. Note: You must have your felony meter full. When you get there, keep going until you see the trees. Park your car in the grass, parallel with the trees, then intentionally allow the police to ram you through. Be careful, as some of the spots in the water will flip your car. Information in this section was contributed by Bonz11549.
Go to the take a ride option at the main menu and go to Miami. Drive straight and make a right turn at the third stoplight. Go straight to the end, all the way to the wall, then make a left turn at the wall on the sand. Drive straight and hit the wall in front of you. Keep trying if this does not work the first time. Once you get through the wall, you will have to back up slightly and turn hard to the right. Then, you will have to turn hard to the left and keep driving straight. Be careful, as it is easy to flip in the water. Enable the "No Police", "Stilts", and "Invincibility" codes to help.
When in New York on the last mission, where you have to rescue the President, drive north in your Cadillac. A group of secret agents will be soon be after you. Allow them chase you and go into a corner. If done correctly, when they hit you will go right through the wall. Information in this section was contributed by Scooby9694.
Drive to Bal Harbor in Miami. Go to the third street from the south of Bal Harbour. The street has a bridge. Go down the street towards the bridge and turn into the gap in the buildings on the right. Line your car up with the wall and reverse into the small wall behind you. If done correctly, your car will go through the wall. You can get out the same way. Information in this section was contributed by BTCCKID.
Glitch: Los Angeles parking garage: In Los Angeles, there is a four-level parking garage in the center-west portion of the map. When you visit, cars at this location fall from the ceiling and drive through walls, while all the cars outside are frozen, including the police. Pedestrians will still walk the ghostly streets.
